Lately, I have been obsessed with Japanese and Korean food so, finding a place to shop for ingredients is a must for me. I have fallen in love with Shilla and it became my instant favorite. Shilla is a Japanese & Korean Delicatessen shop located at Gerderlandplein in Amsterdam.
They have a wide variety of Asian products which you can’t find in a normal Asian grocery shop in Amsterdam hence the products are not really cheap. So if you are not tied up with
In addition to a very wide range of Japanese and Korean products, they have a large counter where you can buy with different kinds of homemade kimchi, freshly made take away food, home-made pickles, various seaweed salads.
On the other side of the shop of course after your shopping spree, there is a small restaurant around the corner that offers freshly prepared sushi and some hot and cold Korean dishes. Imagine my happiness when I was just on time before they close at around 1500
I ordered Dolsot Bibimbap, rice topped with Black Angus beef, vegetables and fried egg prepared in a sizzling hot granite bowl. It is very tasty and I must say heavenly, it is definitely worth a visit.
If you are an Asian food junkie like me and has a thing with Japanese & Korean food, I highly recommend this place. Warning it is not really cheap so be prepared to spend around €20-€50 on every visit depends if you splurge on unnecessary Korean and Japanese snacks like me.
